» Facebook doesn’t really support IE6 » as days pass by, by Stuart Langridge
Yes! Facebook are kicking support for IE6 out the window in their update. Hurray.. Something so widely used can’t help but force people to get rid of IE6. IE6 is so broken that I can’t understand why on earth anyone would seek to use that for their browser.
If you use IE6 your credit card details are basically waiting to be stole. From a work perspective IE has so many bugs that make no sense (like very often how chunks of the page don’t show until you scroll down). These bugs are because of a fault in IE6, not the web code, but we the developers of websites have to alter our sites to work around such bugs. So instead of being fixed at the source there are millions of fixes applied across millions of sites.
It’s understanderable that facebook are saying enough is enough.. modern web needs modern web browers.. IE6 is over 7 years old.. Loads of people weren’t regularly using the net 7 years ago, people need to get a clue, and more importantly get firefox, which gets releases far more regularly than IE, 7 is getting on for 2 years old now..
