Asus Eee PC 701

This review of a new ASUS laptop, for just about £200 (a little less for some versions apparently) seems nice.  It’s linux based, hence the cheapness, and only 900Mhz.  I like the look of this, particularly if I could use it for just internet and some simple programming.

The small size and wireless make it a [...]

I Are Jedi

There are reports that the latest star-wars game is on it’s way to the wii. Yes Yes Yes! You will exactly be able to use the remote as a light-sabre and shove people about with your force powers using the nunchuck in the other hand..

This is what I bought a wii for!! [...]

AMV Encoding, Ubuntu

Just bought an MP4 player, although it’s not MP4, but AMV. Noone seems to have details on how to encode this format under linux. The software bundled includes “mencoder.exe”, running under wine, looking at the process reveals the command.

I gave this a go with mencoder native for linux, and it worked perfectly. [...]

Free Culture

There may be many of you (as if there’s that many people reading this , who think I harp on about freedoms and DRM a bit much, and are pretty much of the opinion that it doesn’t matter, and right of people who create works are important.  I agree, but so are the rights [...]

A story from Asimov

This little true story that Isaac Asimov apparently wrote is quite interesting. Asimov, “What is Intelligence?”

I often am regarded as pretty intelligent, academically, but I know that I can be really dumb, and am at other’s mercy in things like the car and other highly skilled jobs, which I know nothing of.  It reminds us [...]

How big am i?

Not very..

How big are we in relation to the galaxy etc..

And, where does the earth fit in to all this?

From a Christian perspective,  God is bigger than all of this, and more.  He’s really quite a lot bigger than we can even begin to try and imagine..  nice..

Carthik Sharma is looking for people who blog about ubuntu, I do so I am pinging back his post.  Ubuntu rocks, and the more people advocating it the better!

1990-1995: Microsoft’s Yellow Road to Cairo

1990-1995: Microsoft’s Yellow Road to Cairo is a great article by a tech guy detailing just how much hot air Microsoft is, and we suck it up…  They keep promising things which exist on other operating systems for year before they produce some half-assed lame version that doesn’t even work.  Yet we get conned into [...]

People on the internet can be such idiots..

A blog owner recieved this Bizzare Google Request from a business who’s threatening to sue him because when they search, his blog comes up before their site..  These idiots obviously don’t understand that if you site is crap an irrelevant to a search term, it won’t show up, and it’s not anyone’s fault but your [...]

Nice Creative Site..

Another site I’ve discovered which is along the lines of css zen garden, but for 3d artists, cgsphere.  It’s amazing, and somewhat paradoxical, how limiting someone’s freedom in design can force some real innovation.  Laura and I have found this with our card making, I’m dying to get some more colours and textures to work [...]
